Major Changes After Storyboard

We recognized that the homepage was overly cluttered, which could overwhelm seniors unfamiliar with app usage. To align with our goal of providing the simplest app experience,we simplified the design, divided features into distinct sections, and introduced clear, accessible buttons. The bottom navigation was streamlined to just a home and back button, reducing confusion and minimizing errors.

Style guide

Typefaces

Both “Lato” and “Helvetica” are one of the most easily read fonts according to The Next Web.

Color Palettes

The colours are representative of the diabetes awareness symbol. The high contrast between the background and text makes it easier to read.

Layouts

Interactions

Most interactions are “tap” to provide less complex navigation and not make users confused.

User Testing

Usability Testing

We observed six intended users go through a set of tasks provided one by one and interviewed them about the process and interactions of the task after.

Identifying any issues users may have that could hinder their ability to navigate the app and any areas that may be confusing or difficult to the user were the main goals for this user testing.

Interview Questions

We interviewed six users about the process and interactions of the task after to gain more insight into their thoughts behind their actions.

We had interviews to identify any issues users may have that could hinder their ability to navigate the app and identify any areas that may be confusing or difficult for the user and identify whether the app meets the intended user’s needs and wants.

What We Got/ Solution

Map

Problem
It is unable to enlarge the map on an appointment page. If the user doesn’t know the detailed location of the hospital, it will cause confusion in the user experience if it doesn’t work when they try to zoom in on it.

Solution
Adding zoom in and out on the map, the user will be able to find the location easily.

Enter Button

Problem
There is no enter button to find a hospital and send a message. The lack of an enter button for users to type and send is confusing.

Solution
Adding an enter button to type and send messages and words

Visual Hierarchy

Problem
Placement of buttons interrupt flow of interaction. Users can become confused if a button is not where they expect it to be. It can cause frustration to the user if they struggle to find what they are looking for.

Solution
Improve placement of buttons to be in their expected positions in a page.

Terminology

Problem
The lack of clear wording of the main homepage categories to reflect its actual function. The user can be confused when the labels do not reflect the function and their purpose. It becomes difficult to find what they are looking for.

Solution
Use proper and clear terminology that will not create any confusion
