Alice in wondeland
Motion Graphic

Alice in Wonderland is a motion graphic animation that conveys emotion through a dynamic blend of text and imagery, capturing tone and intonation. This project explores how movement enhances content, serving as a trailer for Alice in Wonderland.

My teammate and I collaboratively selected the theme, audio, concepts, and ideas for the motion graphic. I took charge of designing all the animations using After Effects, while we both worked together on creating the silhouette drawings. My teammate was responsible for the middle section of the motion graphic (8 sec – 25 sec), while I handled the rest of the animation. I also took the lead in finalizing the entire motion graphic.

Design decisions

Design decisions

Inspired by Disney's Alice in Wonderland (1951), the animation opens with a firework-lit night sky, reminiscent of Disney’s classic introductions. The first half employs soft, bright colours like sky blue, white, yellow, and pink to reflect Alice's outfit and personality. To maintain a typographic focus during silent moments in the soundtrack, I designed a "falling through a deep hole" effect, symbolizing Alice’s descent into her adventure.

Distinct styles separate the real world from the fantasy world, transitioning to a darker palette of black and purple after the hole scene. Dynamic transitions and smoke effects add intrigue, enhancing the fantastical atmosphere.

Silhouette for Motion Graphic

Motion Graphic

We created these silhouette drawings using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate to complement our kinetic typography motion graphic. To maintain simplicity, we designed them as silhouettes, with me focusing on simpler designs and my partner creating the complex Alice in Wonderland characters.
